CRPD States Parties Reporting  Status Update


As of May  2013, there are 130 States Parties to the Convention and one Regional Integration Organization (the European Union). Under Article 35 of the Convention, States parties are to submit regular reports to the UN Committee, which has a mandate to review these reports and make recommendations to the States parties with a view to the full implementation of the Convention at national level.

Article 35 of the Convention  (Reports by States Parties) states:

"1. Each State Party shall submit to the Committee, through the Secretary-General of the United Nations, a comprehensive report on measures taken to give effect to its obligations under the present Convention and on the progress made in that regard, within two years after the entry into force of the present Convention for the State Party concerned. 

2. Thereafter, States Parties shall submit subsequent reports at least every four years and further whenever the Committee so requests."  (Emphasis added)
